Corrosion inhibitor DEFENDER-4215.5 was successfully tested at plants CDU-VDU-4 (production unit No. 18) and VDU-4 with CDU unit (production unit No. 14) of one of the Asian oil refinery plants. The main corrosive components at plants CDU-VDU-4 (production unit No. 18) and VDU-4 with CDU unit (production unit No. 14) were hydrogen sulfide (decomposition product of sulfur-containing oil compounds in column bottoms K-210, K-220 and K-1, K-2 at the following temperatures: 210-360 ºC) and hydrogen chloride (the product of thermal hydrolysis of the residual quantities of chlorides of calcium and magnesium present in the crude oil after desalting). Under such conditions, the concentration column parts, slam pipes, air and water coolers, reservoirs E-210, E-220, E-1, E-2, valves, etc. were subjected to corrosive destruction caused by gasoline fraction. Equipment corrosion rate (steel 20) without injecting inhibitors usually comprised 0.2 - 0.5 mm/year. As to production unit No. 18, inhibitor was injected into slam column lines K-210, K-220 and into column pump-around reflux line K-220, and as to production unit No. 14 – into slam column lines K-1, K-2. Speaking about CDU-VDU-4 (production unit No. 18) the inhibitor was injected into slam column lines K-210 and K- 220 in the amount of 6 ppm and into the first column pump-around reflux line K- 220 in the amount of 3 ppm and that provided equipment protection of columns K-210 and K -220 by 92-94 % and 90-91 % respectively , and as to VDU-4 with CDU unit (production unit No. 14) - 92-97 % and 92-94 %, while the amount of injected inhibitor comprised 4 ppm and 3 ppm respectively. However, it should be noted that our experience shows that in case of continuous supply of the inhibitor into the system, the delivery rate can be reduced by half in 1-2 months, almost without reducing the effectiveness of equipment protection. Speaking about units LK-6U located on two different refineries in Europe, effective protection (over 90%) of columns K-102 was achieved by applying our inhibitor DEFENDER-1122.5 in the amount of 2-3 ppm. At CDU-8 (Europe) the effective protection of condensation and refrigeration equipment against corrosion (over 96%) was achieved at the following dosage of DEFENDER-3115.5 - 4 ppm. Equipment corrosion rate at units such as VDU (Asia) decreased from 0.2-0.3 mm/year to 0.02-0.03 mm/year (protection - 90%) due to injection of DEFENDER-3115.5 in the amount of 2-2,5 ppm. |
